Image-to-Word equation guide
Follow these steps to upload, review and export. EquationFlow supports individual formulas and document screenshots containing text, multiple formulas and tables. PDF files and an open API are not supported.
1. Upload and recognize
Open Recognize, choose an image or drop it into the upload area. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported up to 8 MB, 10,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels total. Crop a single formula closely; keep text clear in full-page documents.
Select Recognize. Documents can take about a minute. If the task is still processing, use the page retry action to resume the original task instead of uploading again.
2. Review the result
Compare the result with the source image. Check signs, fractions, roots, scripts, matrices and line breaks. Handwriting and blurry, reflective or tilted photos are more likely to need correction; retake or crop the image when needed.
A result that passes quality checks counts as one use even if it still needs correction. Failed processing and results rejected by quality checks return the credit.
3. Edit, save and export Word
Switch between Preview and Edit source to correct the content. Exports include current edits, even before saving. Editing and exporting use no recognition credits. Signed-in users can save content to History.
After downloading Word, open the .docx in your version of Word or WPS. Edit one character inside a fraction numerator or matrix cell, save, and reopen it. Editing the internal structure confirms that it is a native equation rather than an image. Behavior can vary by version, so check the sample first.
4. Choose an export format

| Markdown | Keeps the current source and math markup for notes, version control and later editing. |
5. Troubleshooting
- Rows or symbols are incorrect
- Crop or retake a clear image, then recognize it again. Review complex documents item by item.
- A formula will not export to Word
- Check the formula syntax. Some layouts cannot yet convert to native Word equations; simplify the expression or use MathML, PNG or SVG.
- How long images and drafts are kept
- Source images are kept for at most seven days before cleanup. Handwritten strokes are not stored on the server. Local drafts stay in this browser and may be removed when you clear site data.
